Low Fat Diets

The logic behind the low-fat diet is: if eating fat makes you fat, then why not avoid eating fat? Unfortunately, low-fat food options contain more sugar, and this approach to eating has not yielded any evidence of decreased health risks or increased weight loss. In short: it doesn’t work.

A Better Option: Some fats are essential for your health; it’s important to understand the difference between fats that are good for you and those that contribute to heart disease and obesity. Saturated fats and Trans fats are found in meat, dairy, eggs, coconut oil and many processed foods like chips and popcorn. Saturated fats contain cholesterol and contribute to heart disease and weight gain. Unsaturated fats however, are good for you, and come from natural sources like nuts, avocados, salmon and olive oil. Eating good fats in moderation promotes a healthy brain and good nervous system function. If you think, you had more than you needed to, work out more. Do not stay indoors, get outside, get some fresh air and do some exercies.
